Frequently Asked Questions

I am interested in volunteering, how do I get started?

Thank you for your interest, we couldn't do it without you! Please email, call or come by the clinic a Tuesday - Thursday morning for more information.

What legal protections exist for medical volunteers?

Sovereign Immunity protection for clinical staff is provided by the state of Florida, through the Volunteer Healthcare Provider Program.  We set up a simple at will contract provided through the state of Florida’s Department of Health. Please contact us for more information regarding legal protections available to our providers and nurses.

What does an average day look like at the clinic?

Our goal is quality medicine practiced sustainably. Crossroads makes every effort to schedule patients according to provider’s availability, whether it is one 3-4 hour shift per month or more. We are not a walk-in clinic, all patients have been screened in advance and matched with the provider(s) we feel best meet their needs.

Do I have to be in the medical field to volunteer?

No, not at all. Clinic volunteers do everything from screening potential patients, assisting patients with prescriptions, answering questions, organizing documents, to praying with and for patients.

Do volunteer hours count towards my CE's/CEU's?

Yes! Healthcare volunteers can fulfill up to 25% of their CE's through working at the clinic. In addition, licensing fees can be waived by the state of Florida. For more information please contact us!

I am a student, can I do my clinical hours at the clinic?

Yes! Students can be a big help to us at the clinic and we are glad to play a part in educating the healthcare professionals of the future. Please contact us for more information.
