Frequently Asked Questions
What volunteer opportunities are available at the center?
Licensed clinicians (physicians, dentists, physician assistance, nurse practitioners, social workers, nurses, medical assistants, dental assistants/hygienists) donate their time as their schedule allows. Patient loads, well as the frequency and length of each visit is customized to each clinician. The center does ask for a commitment of at least one 4-hour shift per month and schedules to be provided 4 weeks in advance. This is to allow our staff and patients ample time to schedule and plan for upcoming appointments. To serve in a clinical role without supervision, you must be licensed in the State of Florida.
Are there non-clinical volunteer opportunities at the center?
Yes. There are many roles within our center that provide direct and indirect patient care. All roles are vital to the center's daily operations and ensuring the delivery of compassionate, quality care. Some of the duties within these roles include: Praying with patients and providing encouragement, assisting with the Patient Assistance Program, assisting patients with the completion of documentation, and entering patient data into the electronic medical records system.

Sovereign immunity protection for clinical staff is provided by the State of Florida through the Volunteer Healthcare Provider Program. A simple contract is executed through the State of Florida's Department of Health. Please contact the center for more information regarding legal protections available to our clinicians and licensed nursing staff.
Do I have to have medical experience to volunteer?
No, not at all. The center's volunteers do everything from screening potential patients, answering general center questions organizing documents, to paring with and for patients. During the interview process, we work with you closely to find the best role that meets the needs of the center and is a good fit for you.
