Glory of the LORD—Christ reveals the glory of God, the Father

Isaiah 61:1-2 (NASB) — “The Spirit of the Lord is on me because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.  He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

John 14:9 (NASB) — “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father!  So why are you asking me to show him to you?”

Revelation 21:23 (NASB) — “And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illuminated it, and its lamp is the Lamb.”

Devotional — In the Old Testament, the Hebrew word for glory, "kavod," often signifies weight or heaviness, indicating the profound significance and honor of God's presence. The glory of God is frequently associated with His divine presence among His people. In the New Testament, the Greek word "doxa" is used for glory, emphasizing the honor and splendor of God. The glory of God is revealed in the person and work of Jesus Christ. The ultimate revelation of God's glory is seen in the resurrection and exaltation of Christ. The glory of God is not only a display of His majesty but also a call to worship and reverence. Believers are called to reflect God's glory in their lives.  The glory of God is a profound and multifaceted concept that permeates Scripture, revealing His divine nature and calling believers to a life of worship and reflection of His majesty.  Jesus Christ is the culmination of divine glory, worthy to be worshipped and praised. In this and the previous devotionals on the Names of Jesus, we see Him as eternal, the beginning and end of all creation, fully sovereign with all authority to rule and reign, anointed by God the Father as King of Kings, full of majesty, honor, and glory.

Prayer — Let us give thanks that we have such a great King, living and eternal, who desires to make us heirs to His kingdom to share in His glory. Give praise as sons and daughters of God to be truly blessed to live in this magnificent expectation.
