Jesus—Mediator & Intercessor

1 Tim. 2:5-6 (NASB) — “For  there is one God, and one mediator also between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.”

Hebrews 7:25 (NASB) — “Therefore He is also able to save forever those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.”

Devotional — In the previous devotionals, we’ve seen Jesus in His role as Creator, LORD, King of Kings, and Sovereign over all things. Then we’ve seen Him as the Sacrificial Lamb, Savior, and Risen Lord. Now He sits at the right hand of the Father as our mediator and intercessor. As mediator, He provides the bridge between the Father and mankind. In John 14:6 Jesus says, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.” His shedding of blood on the cross pays the price of sin for all mankind. When we come to Him, confess our sins, ask for forgiveness, and acknowledge Him as Lord of our life, Jesus stands before the Father and says this child is now ours. From this point on, when we come to the Throne of Grace in prayer, Jesus stands before the Father, lifting us up.

Prayer — What a wonderful and liberating thought that we have direct access to Jesus and the Throne Room of God. Let us give thanks for the work of Christ, and that He is our mediator and intercessor for all eternity. We need no other.
