Names of Jesus: Part Two

THE ALPHA AND THE OMEGA: WHO IS AND WHO WAS AND WHO IS TO COME, THE ALMIGHTY
Rev. 1:8(NASB)—“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” (Spoken by Jesus).
Rev. 22:13 (NASB)—“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” (Spoken by Jesus).
Devotional—Alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet and Omega is the last letter of the Greek alphabet. Jesus gave this example because the people in John’s (the writer of Revelation) day used the Greek language; they would immediately understand the implication of the beginning and the end. These verses harken back to His name “The Word”. Christ states He is “…who is and who was and who is to come….”, “….the beginning and the end.” In this title, we can see the height, depth, and width of Jesus’ reign. Christ is given all authority. He is the creator, and He is the King. All things started in Him, continue in Him, and end in Him. He is unchangeable and unmovable. I give thanks that my Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, that my beginning and my ending are in Him and through Him.
Prayer—Meditate on the fact that Jesus Christ is the Alpha and Omega. Give thanks that He is not only the eternal beginning and ending, but our personal beginning and ending. He created us, He delivered and sustains us, and He gives us eternal life. Our beginning and our ending. Amen.
